The Oxford Orchestra da Camera was founded in by a group of eminent musicians, it has always worked with equally eminent solist and conductors, most notably with Sir Charles Mackerras and its Principal Guest Conductor, Howard Griffiths.

The orchestra's repertoire offers an increasingly sophisticated public a mixture of rare and more familiar works from all periods. The orchestra commissions new works, often with an Oxford theme.
